OUR HISTORY

In 1958 there existed a subdivision between Mineola Pike and Point Pleasant Road in Boone County, Kentucky. A group of homeowners involved with the Point Pleasant Homeowners Association recognized a need to provide fire protection to their immediate community. A charter was developed and filed with the Boone Country Clerks Office and the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department was formed.

The Point Pleasant Fire Protection District provides fire prevention, protection and suppression, rescue, emergency medical and public education services to a (5 1/2) square mile area of Northeastern Boone County. In 1989, we became the second department in Boone County to have career personnel.

The department is served by a combination of career, part-time and volunteer personnel committed to maintaining a rich tradition of excellence and outstanding public service. Many are nationally certified fire and EMS personnel whom are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to the community.

We maintain a modern fleet of emergency apparatus including: (2) Engine Companies (one front-line and one reserve), (1) Ladder Company, an ALS Ambulance and a Ventilation Unit (1 of only 8 in the United States)
